Sarajevo restaurants & cafes
Sarajevo is Bosnia and Herzegovina’s culinary heart: from ćevabdžinicas and burek bakeries in the Baščaršija bazaar to modern bistros and wine bars. We’ve gathered vetted places by district and occasion.
In Sarajevo people eat everywhere and in all sorts of ways. Around Baščaršija - traditional grills, ćevapi and burek; toward the Austro-Hungarian centre - coffee houses, breakfasts, and modern bistros; on the hillsides - viewpoint terraces. Prices rise toward the most touristy lanes and are noticeably cheaper in simple local spots.
Below are our vetted places: Bosnian classics, grills, wine, vegetarian, and coffee. What exactly to order - ćevapi, burek, japrak, Bosnian coffee - is in the guide to the cuisine. We verify each venue and note the check date.
This section is being filled in: vetted places with honest descriptions and a check date will appear here soon.
